re-JECTED again!

I'm hoping the rejections come out before the acceptances? 7 schools to go. All this competitiveness (coupled with the good job market) begs the question: why not just admit more students?

Dear Ms. Lichtman,

We regret to inform you that the Department of Linguistics at Georgetown University has recommended to the Dean of the Graduate School that your application for admission be denied. We had a very competitive applicant pool this year and could offer admission to very few applicants. You will receive an official letter about this decision from the Graduate School in the near future, but we wanted to inform you as quickly as possible. We hope you will understand that we cannot provide feedback on our decision.

Thank you for your application to our program. We enjoyed reading about your accomplishments and learning about your interest in languages and linguistics. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

Sincerely,

Heidi E. Hamilton, Ph.D.
Director of Graduate Studies
Department of Linguistics
