The Terra Cotta Coffee Shop in Alfred has FAST FREE PASSWORDLESS WIRELESS INTERNET! And COUCHES and CHAIRS and COFFEE! My summer just went from tolerable to fantastic. Sure, the coffee shop is expensive, but it's basically like making a donation to Alfred being cool, and getting a free coffee as a thank you gift. Plus, you're pretty much guaranteed to see everyone you know there.
