long-while-y

The German word for "boring" is "langweilig." I had never broken it down morphologically until the way the prof said it in class made something click: lang = long, weil = because (but hey, it sounds just like "while"!), and ig = y. So according to my personal etymology, something that's boring is something that lasts a looooong while. Sometimes, my really early classes do that.

If you think that sounds nonscientific, when I was learning Spanish, I remembered "viajar" (to travel) by thinking that it sounds like "be a whore."

In other news, I just read over three years of someone else's voyeuristically delicious blog in a week, and I realized that my blog has been lacking in voyeuristic goodies lately. I'm going to try to post more about what I'm actually doing.
