what do you do when people you like like people you don't like?

So, there are these people, and I like them. They're interesting, not annoying, and so on. But then they have these friends. Friends who, hypothetically, have machine-gun laughs, or stand too close to me, or never understand anything and have to have it explained to them. And then, hypothetically, there are the ones for whom I just can't stand anything that comes out of their mouth-- but I've been unable (despite much reflection) to find a unifying principle explaining their profound annoyingness.

Is liking these people, in and of itself, a flaw in the people I like? Is liking people who like people who are annoying a flaw in *me*?
